Recently bought DVD

I like anime and I was very much looking forward to Satoshi Kon's Paprika. (trailer at Apple's Quicktime movie trailer). My anticipation was rewarded. The movie is great, so great in fact that I bought the dvd.

Movie online

Watch Cashback, a short film written and directed by Sean Ellis. It won the Best Narrative Short award at New York's Tribeca Film Festival and is nominated for an Academy Award in the best short film (live action) category – and a treat for our bible belt audience: there's nudity in it. You can watch the whole film online for free, no registration required.

Movie gem

A wonderfully crazy, cool, western, sci-fi musical. Apparently shot mostly in a boy's bedroom, at the local pub and the school gym: The American Astronaut.

    Parabola on life and humanity in expressive b/w images. Hard to believe it's from 1964. IMDB rating of 8.5/10 says enough.
  • Little Miss Sunshine - Teaser/Trailer [en]
    Very nice movie. Strange how movies about dysfunctional families have a tendency to become great stories. And it's a roadmovie, too.
  • Renaissance - Website mit Trailer [fr], Trailer1 & 2 [en].
    Impressive visuals, anyone who liked Sin City will enjoy this, too. Less impressive on story and plot but still worthwhile.
  • Scoop - Trailer [en]. Suffice it to say, Scarlett Johannsen looks cuter than ever wearing glasses. However, it's certainly not the most original Woody Allen film. No surprise, no suspense, just a few running gags and a senior citizen on amphetamine.
